Terry Kline

Terry Donald Kline was born on December 3, 1949, the son of Donald Richard and Lila Mae (Wessel) Kline in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Terry received his education from Schleswig Schools and graduated with the Class of 1968.

Following graduation, with the Vietnam War draft underway, Terry chose to enlist in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country during two tours in Vietnam. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, Terry continued his military service by enlisting in the Iowa Army National Guard, where he served until his retirement from the military.

On March 6, 1970, Terry married Nancy Meseck at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. They were blessed with three children, Stacy, Trevor and Troy, and made their home in Schleswig. Terry worked for Farmland Foods for more than 40 years before enjoying his well-earned retirement in 2012.

Terry was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was also a member of VFW Post 3930 and American Legion Post 0465. Dedicated to serving his community, Terry was a member of the Schleswig Volunteer Fire Department, where he also assisted as an EMT. In his younger years, Terry was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed the time spent outdoors. He also enjoyed fishing and took many memorable trips up north with friends. Camping with his military buddies was another special pastime, giving him the opportunity to reconnect and share time with those with whom he had served. Above all, Terry cherished spending time with his family.

Terry passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of 76 years, nine months and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents- in law, Edgar “Slugger” and Elvera (Kroll) Meseck; great-granddaughter, Lainey Ray Nauberhaus; and brothers-in-law: Arlen Meseck and Gary Meseck.

Terry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Kline of Schleswig; three children: Stacy (Scott) Lindgren of Battle Creek, Trevor Kline of Schleswig and Troy Kline of Schleswig; grandchildren: Trey, Hunter (Ciara) and Tayten (Michael); great-grandchildren: Hoyt, Cal, Wrenley and Ava; brothers: Carey (Thanh) Kline of Brooksville, Florida, David (Michelle) Kline of Correctionville, and Dennis (Lori) Kline of Schleswig; sister-in-law, Linda (Gary) Reimer of Schleswig; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Interment with military honors will follow in the Morgan Cemetery. The family will direct memorials for donations to be made in his memory.
