Terry Schneider

Terry Lynn Schneider was born on September 3, 1956, the son of Vincent and Frieda (Lorenzen) Schneider in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison on October 7, 1956, and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla on May 30, 1971. Terry received his education in the Manilla schools and graduated with the Class of 1975.

Following his education, Terry attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City to study auto mechanics. On January 3, 1977, he opened Schneider Sales and Service, selling Snapper lawn mowers. He dedicated countless hours to repairing and servicing lawn mowers, lawn equipment, and other tools for members of the community. He operated the business for more than 28 years before closing its doors in 2005. Afterward, he began working at Custom Motorcycle in Denison as a small engine mechanic, where he worked for more than 15 years until health issues led him to retire in November 2021.

Terry was a member of the Denison Volunteer Fire Department from 1996 to 2002 and was actively involved in its cadet program. He loved fishing, especially for walleye at Lake View, as well as mushroom and asparagus hunting. He liked motorcycles and enjoyed going on poker rides and trips with others. He also enjoyed going to local car shows.

Terry was a very patient person and was especially good with children, particularly his nieces and nephews. He also participated in league bowling. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He was a servant at heart and genuinely cared about everyone.

Terry moved to Gracewell in Denison, Iowa, in February of 2022, where he passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the age of 70 years, one month, and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Schneider.

Terry is survived by his brothers, Dale (Kathy) Schneider of Denison and Merle (Sue) Schneider of Des Moines; cherished nieces and nephews: David (Anna) Schneider, Kristine (Ryan) Williams, Lisa (Rev. Greg) Moyer, Ryan Schneider (fiancée Lauren Becker), Josh Schneider, and Jamie Schneider; great-nieces and great-nephews; other family members; and friends.

His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will follow at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Gracewell in Terry's honor.
