Vicky Petersen

September 5, 1950 — May 6, 2024

Vicky Jolene Petersen was born on September 5, 1950, the daughter of Harlan and Lozetta (Larson) King in Denison, Iowa. She graduated from Denison High School. Following her education, she traveled to various different cities in the United States with her family.

Vicky decided to move back to Denison to be closer to her family. She worked at IBP, where she met Bruce Petersen. The couple was together for many years and were later married in May of 2012 in Everett, Washington. They spent many years working as property managers in Omaha and Washington. The couple later relocated to Denison, and she worked for Smithfield and Monogram until she was forced to retire due to health issues.

Vicky enjoyed family game time, especially marbles and Phase 10. Some of her other favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, fishing and dancing. She had a real knack for winning and getting paid out at the casino. Her puppies were her pride and joy and she enjoyed spending time with family.

Vicky passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Denison Care Center at the age of 73 years, eight months and one day.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bruce Petersen. She is survived by her two sons; stepdaughters: Gabby Layman and Jenny Petersen; granddaughter, Zoe Layman; mother-in-law, Virgina Petersen; brothers: Harlan King and Kenneth King; siblings-in-law: Carrie (Gene) Ellis, Bobbie (Nick) Velasquez and Mary (Tad) Deck; nephew, Colby (Jolene) Ellis; and many other relatives and friends.

Vicky’s wishes were to be cremated and she and her husband, Bruce will rest at the St. Rose Cemetery.
