Viola M. Landgraf

Viola Marie Landgraf was born April 11, 1923, the daughter of Peter and Annie Boyle Heeren. She died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven.
She was born in rural Milford Township, Denison, Iowa, and baptized in Christ at the First Baptist Church in Denison on April 13, 1941. She received her education in the rural and Deloit schools. After her schooling, she worked at several local cafes as a cook, the Armour Packing plant, and Gefflend Grocery store. She was united in marriage to Leslie Landgraf on October 24, 1943, and to this union three children were born, Barbara, Virgil, and Darvin.
Throughout her life, Viola did a lot of babysitting and housework for others. She enjoyed making crafts, quilting, embroidering, gardening, and baking and decorating cakes. She was a loving and very involved mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie; one son, Virgil; one grandson, Rick; one son-in-law, Don; three brothers: Alfred; George, and Francis; one sister, Mildred. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara and her husband, Lenny; one son, Darvin and his wife Debra; and one daughter-in-law Charlotte; four grandchildren: Michael, Grant, Calin, and Jake; sister Gladys; one brother, Hubert and his wife, Lois; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 4, 2011, at Denison Baptist Church in Denison, Iowa. Pastor Marc Wallace officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Organist Marjorie Neddermeyer provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "When We All Get To Heaven," What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "The Old Rugged Cross." Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Hollander, Delaine Boger, Duane Zenk, Jay Marten, Rob Zenk, and Tim Zenk. The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch served by the Denison Baptist Women. The Huebner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
