Wilma Marie Walde, 93, of Denison, Iowa, departed in faith from this life on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. Wilma wasborn August 8, 1926, in Denison, Iowa, to William Walde and Lillian Walde and lived on the family farm southeast of Denison. She was baptized October 1926, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed her faith on March 17, 1940. Wilma graduated from East Boyer #8 Country School and Denison High School.
After graduation from high school, Wilma taught for two years at the Center School and East Boyer #8 where she taught several of her siblings. She later moved to Denver, Colorado, and was employed by Woolworth's for 36 years as a money counter and bookkeeper until her retirement.
Wilma returned to Denison in 2009 and lived at the Senior Housing before moving to Eventide. Scrabble was one of her favorites and her siblings usually lost.
Her life will be cherished by her remaining siblings: one brother, Leonard (Shirley), and two sisters, Gladys (Phil) and Marilyn; sister-in-law, JoAn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Walter, Raymond, Edward, and Virgil; sisters: Helen Hinze, Ruby, Lillian, Marlene and LaDonna.
The family requests memorials be directed to Eventide Lutheran Home or Zion Lutheran Church.
