Betty Eileen Wieck

Betty Eileen Wieck was born February 16, 1938 to Eldon and Marjorie (Hall) Sparks in Hopkins, Missouri. She graduated from the Schleswig High School with the class of 1956. After graduation, Betty was united in marriage to Dean Wieck at the Frieden’s Evangelical Church in Schleswig. To this union, four children were born: Lorie, Henry, Teresa and Gary. They made their home in Schleswig until they moved to Denison in the early 90’s.

She worked for Bill’s Market for 15 years in Schleswig, bartending at It’ll Do in Denison, Hyvee for 6 years and she retired from the Denison Headstart.

Betty enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds, watching NASCAR and cheering on her favorite driver, Kevin Harvick. She held a real artistry in embroidering and making baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved her family more than anything.

Betty passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of eighty-two years, ten months and two days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Wieck; sisters, Patricia Lambertus and Carol Hansen.

She is survived by her children, Lorie and her husband Hap Pierson of Jefferson, Iowa, Henry Wieck and his wife Tess of Hampton, Iowa, Teresa Hamilton of Denison, Gary Wieck of Denison; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary Sparks of Talladega, Alabama, Randy Sparks and his wife Mary of Talladega, Alabama, Kathy and her husband Martin Greulich of Minneapolis, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 also at the funeral home. Interment is in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family.
