Orville Lee Lamaak

Orville Lee Lamaak was born on February 7, 1936, to John D. and Carrie (Sinning) Lamaak in Herring, Iowa. He was baptized at Wheatland Presbyterian Manse on September 16, 1941, in Breda, Iowa and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church on March 22, 1951, in Wall Lake, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade. Orville was drafted in the Army in 1959 and honorably served until 1964. He was awarded the good conduct medal and was an expert rifleman. Orville married Carol Kroeger on June 15, 1968, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. In his early years, he worked in the farming industry. Orv worked at Iowa Beef Processing for 33 years.

Orv was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, Iowa, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa, and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, reading and watching western TV shows. He cherished spending time with his family, especially going on vacation. He visited many states in the US, including Hawaii. He also traveled to the Bahamas, Germany, Switzerland and France. Orv was an avid coin collector.

Orville passed away on November 22, 2020, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of 84 years, nine months and 15 days.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Cecil, John “Jack”, Donald “Bud”, Virgil; and sisters, Violet Werkmeister and Ruby Paulson. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lamaak of Denison; three daughters, Catherine Lamaak of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rev. Cheryl Lamaak of League City, Texas and Christal Lamaak of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 2 grandsons, Jay and Alfredo “AJ” Lamaak; two sisters, Annabelle Craig of Anthon, Iowa and Geraldine Lamaak of Wall Lake, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Masks are required at the visitation and funeral service.
