Melroy Christiansen

Melroy Addison Christiansen was born April 23, 1938, the son of Henry and Adeline Wiese Christiansen. He died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-two.
Melroy was born in Vail, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on February 8, 1944, and then confirmed on March 29, 1953, at Faith Lutheran Church in Deloit, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Denison High School in Denison, graduating with the class of 1956. Following graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Erving Jenson Construction in Sioux City, Iowa, and then at Fawn Engineering in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1969 until 1980. For a short time he worked at Colonial Manor in Odebolt, Iowa, before working for Crawford County where he operated a maintainer for the county shed, retiring in 2003.
On May 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Betty Noble in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Boyer, Iowa.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. For him, family came first. He especially found joy in socializing with family at cards and enjoyed the companionship of those close to him, including his brothers, nieces and nephews. He liked camping with his children, traveling around the country and going for rides around the area. In his leisure time he enjoyed doing some landscaping, gardening and other yard work. In sports, he was an avid Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears fan. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Melroy was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Paul Adams; brother, Dale Christiansen; two sisters: Shirley Gehring and her husband, Eddie; Phyllis Brotherson and her husband, Loyal; two sisters-in-law: Beverly Christiansen and Karen Taylor; and brother-in-law, Russell Hammer. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Denison; three daughters: Laura, Sheri and Karen and her husband, Wesall ofFlorida; one son, Mark of Missouri; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Bonard.one sister, Beverly andone sister-in-law, Mildred all of Iowa; other relatives and friends.
