Robert Henningsen

Robert (Bob) Milroy Henningsen was born on May 12, 1944, the son of Milroy and Eleanor Heide Henningsen. He passed away surrounded by his family at his bedside on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-six.
Bob was born at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison. He was baptized in Christ on September 24, 1944, confirmed on March 22, 1959 and was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in country and public schools, graduating from the Denison High School with the class of 1962.
On January 19, 1963, Bob was united in marriage to Janice Fay Bielfeldt at the Zion Lutheran Chapel in Denison. They made their home in Denison where he was employed at IBP. After working at IBP, Bob began farming with his father on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. In December 1969, Bob and Janice moved to their present farm east of Deloit, Iowa. In 1976, they purchased Henningsen Farm Supply which operated until October 1992. After they sold the business, Bob was employed by Triple F Feeds in Westside retiring there in 2007. Although semi-retired he continued farming and joined his son, Dean, in the seasonal manure hauling business.
They were blessed with the birth of four children, Jeffrey, Kelly, Brent and Dean. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His favorite activities included socializing, spending time with his grandchildren, farming, playing cards and watching stock car races. His infectious laugh was an appreciated attribute. He was a man who felt strongly about his traditional values and customs. He was faithful to his Lord and Savior. He was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and greeter. He received numerous awards and special recognition including Iowa Farmer Degree from the FFA, Outstanding Young Farmer, The Forever Young Hall of Fame Award, Crawford County Cattlemens Service Award, and Honorary FFA member degree. He served on the Crawford County Pork Producer Board and as treasurer of the Crawford County Fair Association.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Milroy and Eleanor; his in-laws, Emil and Vernette Bielfeldt; brother-in-law, John Rank; and niece Brandi Henningsen Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Janice; three sons: Jeffrey; Brent and his wife, Beth; Dean and his wife, Steph; one daughter, Kelly and her husband, Wally; eight grandchildren: Emma, Evan, Eli, Tanner, Ava, Ella, Payton and Jaxson; three sisters: Arlene; Carol and her husband, Terry; Judy and her husband, Gary; sisters-in-law: Lana and her husband, Ron; Jeanine and her husband, Tom; plus aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the service and graveside rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "In the Garden," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and for "On Eagles Wings" by soloist, Glenn Freese. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Roberts grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clayton Henningsen, Gary Volkert, Mike Gehring, Bill Hrabik, Travis Steffens, Sean Brocious, Brian Rank and Joe Thelen. The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
