Bonita Fineran

Bonita Lou Fineran was born December 30, 1938, the daughter of Julius and Anna Ruess Carstensen. She died August 23, 2010, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, at the age of seventy-one.
Bonita was born in Deloit, Iowa. She attended Deloit and Goodrich No. 5 schools through 8th grade and graduated in 1957 from Denison High School. On January 22, 1957, she married Thomas Fineran in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was baptized in the Catholic faith in December 1958. The couple was blessed with the birth of eight children. From 1965-1978 they lived in Idaho where she worked as a cook in St. Anthony for many years. After moving back to Iowa in 1978, she worked for four years as a cook and also in security at the Denison Job Corps.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were special to her and she enjoyed her dog, Willy. She had a variety of hobbies which included crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, canning, camping with family and friends, watching birds and caring for them. She liked listening to polka music. John Wayne was her favorite movie star and Elvis Presley her favorite singer. She enjoyed sports, including football, and watching NASCAR races. She also had a clock collection.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 2001; son, Thomas Jr., in infancy; three grandsons: Roach, Jesse, and Dustin ; five brothers: Raymond, Clarence, Dennis, John and Gerald ; and sister, JoAnn, in infancy. Survivors include three daughters: Robinof Dow City, Iowa; Dianeof Atlantic, Iowa; Paulaand her husband, Fred of Homer, Nebraska; four sons: Joel of Exira, Iowa; Richard and special friend, Angie of Atlantic, Iowa; Kennethand special friend, Traci of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Johnand his wife, Nancy of Atlantic; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers: Normanand his wife, Mary of Ida Grove, Iowa; Deanof Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Audreyand her husband, Doug of Waxhaw, North Carolina; and Patof Denison; other relatives and friends.
