Albin Langholdt

Albin Earnest Langholdt was born on May 16, 1915, the son of Albert and Carrie Schwarz Langholdt. He died Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-four.
Albin was born on the family farm in Soldier Township, near Ricketts and received his education at Immanuel Lutheran School near his home. He was baptized in Christ on June 13, 1915, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1931, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, Charter Oak. After completing his education, he worked with his family on the farm.
On October 6, 1940, Albin was united in marriage to Esther Schultz at Papillion, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm south of Schleswig and were blessed with the birth of one son, Gerald "Jerry". In 1981, they moved to their acreage on Donna Reed Road south of Denison. They planted many trees and flowers, and established many gardens and fruit trees. Albin and Esther were honored to celebrate sixty-nine years of marriage. He lived a good Christian life and was blessed to enjoy a loving, Christian marriage. In 2008, Albin entered the Reed House and in October of 2008, he moved to the Eventide Lutheran Home.
He enjoyed square dancing, bowling, woodworking and fishing. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Soldier Township, Charter Oak.
Albin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther, March 17, 2010; and two brothers, Wilbert and Gehart. Survivors include his son, Gerald "Jerry" Langholdt and his wife, Grace of Schleswig; two grandchildren: Lori Aden and her husband, Scot of Latimer, Iowa; Terry Langholdt and his wife, Brenda of Gretna, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren: Connor and Courtney Aden; and Logan, Dawson, Spencer and Avery Langholdt; two sisters-in-law: Laura Langholdt of Ricketts; Emma Langholdt of Charter Oak; and many other relatives and friends.
