Ben Obrecht

January 13, 2021 — January 6, 2010

Benjamin Gerald Obrecht was born January 11, 1976, in Denison, Iowa, to Keith and Sandra Walker Obrecht. He died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of thirty-three. In his death he gave the gift of life as a bone and tissue donor.
Ben was baptized in Christ on May 23, 1976, and confirmed on May 5, 1991, at the United Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa. He graduated from Ar-We-Va High School in 1995. After high school he began working at FAC in Westside. He was married to his beautiful bride, Robin Niehaus, on August 9, 2003. The couple made their home in Arcadia. Ben continued to work at FAC until November of 2009, and then began trucking for Vonnahme Trucking.
He was very involved in the community. He was a member of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Ben especially enjoyed helping his family and friends, grilling, with a specialty of grilled pizza, making kabobs for Sunday Funday, spending time with his family and friends, adored his children and enjoyed doing everything with them. He was a man who enjoyed working on anything for anyone. He was an excellent mechanic who, in his spare time, enjoyed working on vehicles, building grain bins, remodeling, spraying lawns, and doing snow removal. He also enjoyed hunting, figure 8 racing, and attending ISU football games and tailgating with his wife. He was a happy-go-lucky man who everyone enjoyed being around, always saying "hi" to anyone passing by.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Keith Obrecht; his grandmother, LaJune Obrecht and his aunt, Gloria Smith. Survivors include his wife, Robin; two children, Bryce and Kora; his mother, Sandy; his brothers: Chris and his wife, Michelle; Tony and his wife, Trisha; and Kyle; his grandparents, Kenneth and Mildred and B.P. "Bud;" his parents-in-law, Jim and Barb; his sister-in-law, Sarah and her husband, Jeremy; nieces and nephews: Julie and Jenna, Caden, Blake and Wade, and Jadeyn and Blayne; many other relatives and friends.
