Donna Lou Ambria Meeves, age 86, died and went to live with Jesus on Friday, August 20, 2021, in Morningside Care Center, a caring and loving community in Ida Grove, Iowa. She was born on the family farm on January 9, 1935, to Leonard and Edna Kastner and was the second of three daughters.
Donna was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She owned the Schleswig grocery store for many years and enjoyed visits with the young children who stopped in for a snack on their way to school. She had a passion for quilting, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. Donna participated in planting flowers at the city park and quilting at the church. She enjoyed taking part in her church community, Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Donna was married to Gerald Eugene Meeves and they wed on November 15, 1953. To this union, they had two daughters and a son: Lucinda (David) Strong of Denver, Colorado; Felicia (Bob) Wittorf of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and Ritchie Meeves of Schleswig, Iowa. There are five grandchildren: Derek (Lisa) Strong of Lakewood, Colorado; Sarah Strong (Aubrey Godwin) of Lakewood, Colorado; Alyssa Wittorf of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Whitney (Christopher) Kreutzer of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and Meggie Wittorf (Steve Hentges) of Minneapolis, Minnesota. To her grandchildren, there are seven great-grandchildren: Lucy, Copper, Drew, Everett, Ollie, Ambria, and Genevieve.
