Richard Schiernbeck

Richard Vernon, son of Clarence Carl Schiernbeck Sr. and Elsie Justina (Schneller) Schiernbeck, was born October 26, 1940. He passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Carroll, attaining the age of 81 years, 2 months and 18 days.

Richard was raised on a farm near Wall Lake. After finishing his education, Richard held numerous jobs until he found passion for driving "Big Rigs," which led him to drive all over the United States hauling just about everything. Richard received several awards and certificates for safe driving throughout his career. After retiring from trucking, he worked at American Protein in Arion for a short time before permanently retiring.

He loved being outside and working on little projects. During his free time, he liked to hang out at Mason's Garage in Westside and visit with his family and friends and have coffee. Otherwise, you would find him at home, sitting in his recliner with his little dog Penny, who he adored, watching old westerns and NASCAR races.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Shelly Cooper; three sisters: Darlene Hast and her husband August "Fritz" Jr.; Joyce Schiernbeck; Diann Hoffmeier and her husband Byron "Barney"; brother, Clarence "Sonny" Schiernbeck Jr.; brother-in-law William "Billy" Soll; nephew Kevin Hagge and great niece Kristy Jo Petersen.

He is survived by three children: Jodi Schiernbeck, Ricky Schiernbeck and wife Kelly; Rebecca Angulo Schiernbeck and husband Joaquin; and Justin Ray Schiernbeck and wife Carrie; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great-grandchildren; sister Janice Soll; brother Vernon Schiernbeck and wife Carol; and many other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Richard Schiernbeck of Westside will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Huebner Funeral Home in Denison is assisting the family with arrangements.
