Clayton Allen Hawes

Clayton Allen Hawes was born on March 17, 1959 to Stan and Jean (King) Hawes in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He graduated from Ar-We-Va High School with the class of 1977. He then continued his education with mechanic school in Wichita, Kansas. Clay married Sheri Wright on July 28, 1990 in Meadow Grove. The couple moved to Charter Oak and had one daughter, Becki. Clay and Sheri owned C&S Transportation. He traveled all across the United States and Canada.

Clayton enjoyed restoring tractors and cars. He took pride in caring for his lawn. He had a special place in his heart for his adopted dog, Sasha. The two loved car rides, especially to McDonalds. When he was younger, he always brought home stray animals to nurture. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Clayton married Kathleen Reis on March 18, 2014 and blended their families into one.

Clayton passed away at his home on February 7, 2022 attaining the age of 62 years, 10 months and 21 days.

Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl Hawes on February 11, 2013 and his wife, Kathleen Hawes on June 26, 2017. He is survived by his daughter, Becki Hawes (Justin Frank) of Westside; parents: Stan and Jean Hawes of Denison; step children: Josh Wolterman of Omaha, Nebraska, Sara Edholm of Arcadia, Lora Wolterman (Chris Merritt) of Westside, Andrea Wolterman (Bryce White) of Dow City, Lila Rood (Jaime Navarro) of Carroll, and Patrisha Wolterman of Carroll; 13 grandchildren and one on the way: Keelee, Tayleigh, Ryleigh, Kasen, McKinley, Jaxson, PJ, Walter, Keely, Rylee, Eethyn, Braxton, Jurnie; siblings: Rhonda (Al) Saunders of Peterson, Jo Marie (Dominick) Polito of Ilse, Minnesota, Steven Hawes of Hawarden and Ronald (Kelly) Hawes of Ridgecrest, California ; and many other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
