Nathan James Mulligan was born on Wednesday, March 29, 1978, to John A. and Peggy (Rickabaugh) Mulligan in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Nathan received his education from Denison High School, graduating with the class of 1996. He then started classes at University of Northern Iowa. He continued his education at Buena Vista University and graduated with his master's degree in accounting.

Nathan moved to Omaha and started working at Woodman of the World, as well as parttime at the Clarkson Hospital library. He explored other accounting opportunities in the Omaha area. Nathan enjoyed hanging out with friends and going on cruises. He especially enjoyed the Alaskan Cruise with his father. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching TV and reading. He could always be called by his close friends to watch their kids so they could have a fun night out.

Nathan passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 45 years, one month and four days.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brother, John C. "JC" Mulligan of Denison; three aunts: Connie Mulligan of Deloit, San (Doug) Swanger of Le Mars; Shelli (Keith) Bebee of Luton; several cousins; and other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., also, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
